The school is along a main thoroughfare in Rock Island. The area directly surrounding the school is a varied mix of offices, one- and two-family dwellings, light industrial, and neighborhood businesses. 

Earl Hanson offers education for grades pre-kindergarten through sixth. In addition, Earl Hanson offers a Head Start program and also houses the school district gifted program.

Dismissal: 3:00 p.m.

Wednesday Dismissal: 2:10 p.m.
Half Day Dismissal: 11:45 a.m.

Calendar

The Rock Island-Milan School District operates on a modified year-round calendar.  School starts in early August, and students have 2-week breaks in the fall, winter, and spring.

Enrollment 
According to the Illinois School Report Card, there were 388 students enrolled in 2019. The average class size was 21. 

Hot Breakfast/Lunch Programs
A hot breakfast and lunch are provided to Earl Hanson students at no cost. Students bringing a sack lunch may purchase milk for $.40.

Before or After-Care Programs
Earl Hanson also offers before and after-school childcare programs.

Recent and Planned Upgrades
In the past five years, Earl Hanson added new primary playground equipment for its students. In the next five years, there are plans for new intermediate playground equipment, a memorial garden, and new landscaping in front of the school that includes a Butterfly garden.
