Dear Earl Hanson School Families,
It is an honor and pleasure to greet you as your new principal of Earl Hanson Elementary. I have over 25 years of experience in education spanning grade levels PK-8 with a specific concentration in literacy development. I am excited to bring that knowledge to Rock Island School District and work with you as a partner in education to ensure the success of your child.
Along with staff, I will work hard to continue the strong relationships with parents, students, and staff, and the community. I am confident that we can make our schools a place where students can continue to learn and grow academically, socially, as well as emotionally. Our priorities at Earl Hanson and Rock Island Milan School District 41 include: 1) Increase student achievement; 2) Build respectful relationships; and 3) Improve operations.
As a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) school, we have clearly outlined our behavioral expectations. In addition to PBIS, Earl Hanson is a Leader in Me school. Leader in ME is based on Stephen Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Successful People, but tailored to meet the needs of elementary schools. Through The Leader in Me, we work to help our students identify what they are passionate about, what their goals are, and help students develop plans to meet those goals.
My priority is to ensure that all students receive the best education possible. Every decision I make will be in each student’s best interest. I have an open door policy in which I welcome everyone.
Earl Hanson, as you know, has excellent teachers with strong instructional skills and a depth of knowledge. I look forward to a successful school year working with the staff, students, parents and community members of the Rock Island School District.
Sarah Leonard, Principal
